This is our last day all together. We started it with an energizer where everyone was ninjas. This is an amazing way to wake up and connect with one another.
After this, we spent some time finishing videos and podcasts that needed to be complete for the screening tonight, as we are having a party with musicians and other farmers.
Each participant also filmed a small presentation of themselves explaining their background and interests in their favourite part of the garden. This is a good way for us to reflect and work in small groups together.
We further reflected writing action plans and evaluations of the whole course and the impact it had and will have on our lives in terms of consumption and production.
After lunch we harvested fruits and vegetables for a produce show. Our knowledge was furthered by Adam’s explanation of growth and storage cycles.
One item we tasted was Jerusalem artichokes. These were unusual in texture and flavour. The advantages of these are that they can be harvested in Winter, when there is very little to harvest.
It was thoroughly enjoyable to have a relaxed afternoon where we could socialise with the other participants and learn more about their lives and interests. We did sound and video tests to ensure the quality for this evening’s screening.
Finally, the day ended with a party where friends and farmers brought food and played instruments. We ate, drank, sang and danced, seizing our last night together.
